Tuna In the winter months of December and January giant blue fin tuna visit our waters, with the highest concentrations of fish near Morehead City. These giants can reach over 1000 pounds. Other tuna that visit our waters are yellowfin tuna, big eye tuna, black fin tuna, and their smaller cousins Bonito and False Albacore. Bonito and False Albacore (also known as Fat Alberts) are excellent fighters on light tackle and Bonito are excellent table fare. Blue Fin Tuna
